Genco Place

Twenty-five years after an economic crash halted construction on this office tower, we re-envisioned the original plans to design a modern tower that is more attractive, marketable and cost-effective.

In 1981, construction on this office tower was abandoned with only the parkade complete. When the owner approached GEC to complete the tower, we re-imagined the project to increase the floor-to-area ratio (FAR) and improve the net-to-gross ratio while still fitting within the envelope of the original development permit.

Following an evaluation of alternatives, the original monostrand post-tensioned concrete structural design was retained. All other building systems were designed to modern best practices.
