Jason Pare

Partner

Jason is a Partner at GEC and a registered architect in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan, with a Master of Architecture from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) from the University of Calgary. Since joining the firm in 2017, he’s stepped into key leadership roles, bringing equal parts design sensitivity and operational clarity to every project he touches.

With over 17 years of experience, Jason’s work spans municipal, transportation, and large civic projects, including some of GEC’s most visible public spaces. At every stage, he centres the client’s vision, helping shape early ideas, translating complex requirements into cohesive designs, and ensuring the final product delivers real value to the communities it serves.

Whether guiding the delivery of a major public space or helping refine GEC’s internal operations, Jason is known for his calm, thoughtful presence. He listens deeply, navigates complex parameters with care, and helps teams stay focused on what matters most. In a sector filled with competing priorities, he has a steady way of pulling threads together, balancing stakeholder needs, technical demands, and design integrity to keep projects moving forward with purpose.

He’s especially energized by the early design phases, where trust is built and project values are shaped. But the best moments are often personal: one of Jason’s proudest memories is watching his daughters run through the fountain at the newly completed Civic Precinct and seeing the space come alive through their eyes, surrounded by the community it was built for.

Outside the office, Jason is happiest on a bike, spending time with family, or immersed in his sketchbook—if architecture hadn’t called, he might’ve ended up an industrial designer, tinkering with everyday problems. His mix of curiosity and focus once earned him both Athlete of the Year and the Math Award—a balance that still shows up in his work today. He now brings that same competitive spirit to GEC socials, where he proudly holds the unofficial title of highest laser tag score. Twice.
