The new Belmont Fieldhouse and Library will provide residents of this fast growing community and south Calgary year round opportunities to practice, play, train and compete.

A community hub designed for learning, play, and connection in Calgary’s growing southwest.

In a city that’s changing fast, the Belmont Fieldhouse and Library is more than just a building—it’s a promise to southwest Calgary’s future. Opening in early 2027, this new civic anchor is the first step in a larger community vision, combining sports, learning, and gathering in a single, welcoming place.

Designed to support one of Calgary’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods, the facility features an indoor multi-sport turf field, spectator seating, gender-neutral dressing rooms, and a 10,000-square-foot public library. Whether you’re joining your first soccer team, discovering a new author, or simply finding space to connect with others, the Belmont Fieldhouse meets you where you are.

A shared entrance and open-concept lobby seamlessly connect the fieldhouse and library, encouraging spontaneous encounters and shared use. Designed for flexibility, the space invites performances, play, conversation, and quiet reflection, supporting a wide range of community activities without feeling rigid or overstructured. It’s a space that feels lived-in from the moment you arrive.

As the first phase in a broader civic campus, including a high school, housing, and recreation amenities, the fieldhouse sets the tone for what’s to come: connected, flexible, people-first design. Visitors are welcomed by a landscaped courtyard that captures sunlight and invites community life to flow outdoors.

For the thousands of Calgarians planting roots in the city’s south, the Belmont Fieldhouse and Library will be more than a destination. It will be a place to move, meet, and belong.

Soccer in Calgary has seen significant growth in recent years, with increasing participation across all age groups, the rise of indoor leagues for year-round play, and expanding community programs and facilities supporting both recreational and competitive play.

“This joint project in partnership with Calgary Public Library is only the beginning of the Belmont Civic Site. The site will provide access to recreation and social gathering spaces which will support cultural, fitness, leisure and sports activities contributing to Calgarians’ overall social well-being.
