Fast and stress-free connections.
The Airside Connections Corridor and the YYC LINK mark a significant change in how people move through the YYC Calgary International Airport. With the opening of the new international terminal building in 2016, the Airside Connections Corridor ensures people get to their connecting flights quickly and safely. To accommodate these evolving pedestrian patterns, a new multi-modal corridor linking the terminals was developed. The route features moving walkways, pedestrian corridors and the YYC LINK, a compact transit system featuring custom-designed electric vehicles operating in a dedicated right-of-way that can quickly transport passengers to four different stations at each concourse in the airport.
The YYC LINK is a custom-built, fully accessible, interior transit system that accommodates people of all abilities. GEC led the design of this complex renovation, which includes stations, wayfinding, branding, and custom compact vehicles. The YYC LINK is the recipient of the 2017 Ella Anderson Accessibility Award and the 2018 City of Calgary Award for Accessibility.
With two moving walking ways and an internal transit system, the corridor is a first-of-its-kind in Canada. And you get a fantastic view of Calgary along the way.
