Improving the passenger experience.
Originally opened in 1981 as part of the original construction of the Red Line LRT, Anderson Station required significant upgrades to improve pedestrian traffic flow and meet the needs of today’s Calgary Transit users. Completed in 2018, the station is improving the passenger experience through increased accessibility, safety, mobility and comfort.
The new upgrades at Anderson Station include a new signature staircase and ramp united by an iconic awning at the main elevated entrance. Inside, a new glulam wood ceiling, warm interior finishes, and modern wayfinding complement a renovated staircase to the main platform and a new elevator that improve the station’s universal accessibility. Enhanced safety and security to the station was taken into consideration by upgraded CCTV cameras and improved durability and security systems to station doors. CTrain service continued throughout construction, and strategic planning and phasing allowed the platform to remain open without disruption.
