MNP Community & Sport Centre Redevelopment

Strategically planned for sports excellence.

The MNP Community & Sport Centre (formerly the Repsol Sport Centre) is a world-class facility dedicated to supporting the training and competition needs of high-performance athletes and the recreation needs of Calgary’s citizens. Located in the broader context of Lindsay Park, this well-known facility combines wet (aquatics) and dry (gymnasium and fitness) sports under one single roof and environment.

In 2015, the Lindsay Park Sports Society engaged GEC to explore strategies for the expansion and renovation of the MNP Community & Sport Centre. This master plan renews the centre’s commitment to its dual mandate of first-in-class aquatic training and competition complemented by excellence in community fitness and recreation. Since then, our team has worked with the Lindsay Park Sports Society to develop a phasing strategy for the building’s redevelopment. The renovation anticipates a large addition to the south side of the building, a leisure water addition to the west, and a complete renovation to the natatorium. The new front desk and change rooms will be an addition on the south side of the building, improving its visibility from the parking lot and the facility’s connection to the surrounding Lindsay Park. The 50-metre lane pool will be expanded by two lanes and the dive tank enlarged to increase programming opportunities. The leisure water component will add a new recreation element to the facility, highlighting its commitment to both competition events as well as family-friendly experiences.
