Let’s take flight!

The new WestJet domestic check-in area at the Calgary International Airport is a whole new experience for WestJet Guests to begin their journey. Our design team identified an opportunity to create a bespoke experience that was unique to YYC, where the built interior environment could function as a ‘WestJetter’, promoting a convenient and comfortable experience by design that is unique to WestJet.

Every one of WestJet’s ‘Guests’ are different; the process they undertake and decisions they make as they transition into the airport are unique to that traveler. There are numerous ways to check in that are grouped, including self-check-in, assisted check-in, special needs check-in, and premium Guest or Gold check-in. Upon entry into the facility, a traveler can easily identify where they want to be by the new design language, supported by clear and legible signage. This was achieved by removal of visual clutter and simplifying the design of the interior environment. Even in crowded peak periods at key decision points, one is presented with numerous accessible visual aids to assist in a smooth and comfortable process.
