    Peter Osborne



    Peter Osborne is a partner at GEC Architecture with over 19 years of experience. Peter established GEC’s Edmonton Studio in 2011, taking on the management and direction for the entire practice in 2018. In 2020, Peter was instrumental in opening GEC’s Toronto Studio and leads projects across GEC’s three integrated design studios. Notable projects include the University Commons at the University of Alberta (LEED® Gold), Okanagan College Health Sciences Centre (Zero Carbon, WELL Certified, LEED® Gold), the NAIT Productivity and Innovation Centre (LEED® Gold), and the new School of Business for MacEwan University (LEED® Gold).

    Peter has focused his work on social justice projects for the last 10 years. He has designed affordable, social and permanent supportive housing for the City of Edmonton, Capital Region Housing Corporation, and Homeward Trust, as well as participating as a vendor of record for Toronto Community Housing.

    Peter received a Bachelor in Environmental Design Studies and a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University, where, upon graduation, he received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal. He has a strong interest in and commitment to urban design and planning—much of his work has focused on campus and city planning. Peter is an advocate for design excellence in the community and has published a number of articles in the press and construction journals. As a member and chair of the Edmonton Design Committee, Peter was recognized by Avenue Magazine as one of Edmonton’s Top 40 under 40. Peter has contributed greatly to the architectural profession and has been recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Peter is a past president of the Alberta Association of Architects and is currently on the Edmonton Construction Association Board and Canadian Architecture Certification Board.
