Peter Lougheed Hall is more than a residence—it’s a place where future leaders live, learn, and grow together. Designed for the University of Alberta’s top upper-year students, the hall offers an immersive environment rooted in leadership development, while fostering the friendships and memories that carry well beyond campus.

Set along the edge of the North Saskatchewan River Valley, the building opens itself to nature. A central courtyard anchors the design, drawing light into community spaces and creating a natural gathering place at the heart of daily life. Inside, the dining hall becomes the social hub—its timber structure warm and welcoming, its windows framing views of the park beyond. With space for shared meals, study sessions, and lively conversations, it’s always alive with energy and connection.

To support the Peter Lougheed Leadership College, flexible conferencing and meeting spaces crown the building. What began as a pragmatic brief was transformed into a visionary design choice: a top-floor venue overlooking the river valley. Now called the City Room, it hosts university events, leadership programming, and community gatherings, all with panoramic views.

Every detail of Peter Lougheed Hall is designed to bring people together—whether around a fire in the courtyard, in a quiet lounge with a view, or through seamless indoor-outdoor spaces that invite connection. It is a home, a hub, and a launchpad for the leaders of tomorrow.
