South Campus brings learning, culture, and campus life together in a place where students connect, explore, and belong. Linked to Calgary’s LRT network and the 7th Avenue redevelopment, it connects directly to the renovated North Campus, transit routes, and downtown amenities. GEC’s master plan organized classrooms, labs, administrative spaces, and student services around a central atrium, making the campus easy to navigate while supporting wellbeing and inclusion.

The project combined a new 22,000 m² South Campus with a renovated North Campus, forming a seamless environment where students move freely, access services, and feel part of a connected community. The ground-floor “Main Street” brings together student services, retail, and cultural amenities, hosting meet-ups, study sessions, and campus events. Rooftop terraces and a fourth-floor green roof provide spaces to relax, recharge, and enjoy natural light. LEED Silver certification reflects a commitment to sustainable, enduring design.

Cultural identity is woven throughout the architecture. Decorative patterns reference global traditions and Alberta’s First Nations. Spaces like the Indigenous Centre and Interfaith Chapel invite reflection, conversation, and shared understanding, celebrating diversity and belonging at the core of campus life.

By linking people, spaces, and purpose, South and North Campuses now form a cohesive urban hub that balances openness, security, and connectivity. Students, staff, and the broader community can navigate the campus easily, access support and cultural resources, and engage in an environment designed for learning, wellness, and collaboration.

"We're building Alberta for the future by investing in infrastructure like Bow Valley's South Campus project… it's going to give thousands of students a leg up as they learn new skills that will allow them to reach their full potential in Alberta's workforce."
