GEC Announces the Appointment of Three New Partners

GEC Architecture is proud to announce three new Partners! Gillian Carr, Adrian Benoit, and Richard Blouin have been integral to the continued success and growth of our studios. Their leadership and expertise as Associates, Senior Associates, and now Partners have contributed to many successful projects in a wide array of market sectors and building typologies. We know Gillian, Adrian, and Richard will continue advancing GEC’s values and using their talent, expertise, and innovation to deliver high-quality services and solutions for our clients.

Please help us recognize the contributions of these three exceptional design professionals.

Gillian Carr is an accomplished project leader and designer, skilled at applying innovative principles and perspectives to projects of all scales. She believes each project requires unique ideas to be successful and enjoys the collaboration that is inherent in bringing these ideas to life. Since joining the firm in 2005, Gillian has specialized in education, recreation, and community facilities and will continue to apply her expertise to these sectors within the GEC studio. Gillian is particularly interested in architecture’s ability to promote social and environmental sustainability and has been instrumental in the delivery of GEC’s recent Zero Carbon and WELL Certified projects.

Gillian’s most recent accomplishments include:

Adrian Benoit is passionate about creating a vision and bringing it to life for his clients. He has an in-depth understanding of how to create engaging public environments that bring people together. Adrian joined GEC in 2011 and handles the management and direction of GEC’s housing portfolio in Western Canada. He has been instrumental in the design and delivery of GEC’s market, affordable, and supportive housing for the last 10 years. In addition to his work within the housing sector, Adrian has designed some of GEC’s most celebrated works, including the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and Edmonton’s Civic Precinct Surface and Fountain Renewal.

Adrian’s most recent accomplishments include:

Richard Blouin

Richard Blouin joined the GEC team in 2015 and is a strong problem solver who is successful at developing creative solutions for a wide range of complex design challenges. He is motivated by bringing ideas to life, creating a vision, and then manifesting it into the built environment. He takes a placemaking approach to design, creating meaningful and impactful spaces and re-imagining how people use, engage with, and experience architecture. Richard brings expertise in working collaboratively with post-secondary institutional clients and their stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet their specific needs.
